Meet Dr. V, a Holistic Practitioner in San Diego

Do you ever get the sense that modern medicine leaves you feeling worse than before? Your acute symptoms may feel managed, but they don’t completely resolve. Medications seem to help, but the side effects are often worse than the original condition.

You’re not alone. Many doctors are realizing that we need a more holistic approach to healthcare. Our practice utilizes ancient Chinese medicine techniques, complemented with functional medicine, to restore balance to every person who walks through our doors. We regulate hormones, improve cognitive function, repair the immune system, and so much more without relying on medications.

We’re not pushing pseudoscience or practicing on the fringes of medicine. Instead, holistic practitioners are bridging the gap between centuries-old practices such as acupuncture and herbalism and the advancements of modern medicine.

At Thriving Wellbeing, we embrace a holistic Chinese medicine approach that aims to address the root causes of various health issues.

If this approach sounds promising to you, then it’s time to meet Dr. V. She utilizes holistic medicine techniques, practicing Chinese medicine and acupuncture in San Diego and Del Mar. She is passionate about helping patients through holistic care!

In this article, not only will you learn more about Dr. V’s background, but we’ll also explore how holistic practitioners in San Diego (and elsewhere!) are revolutionizing healthcare. They successfully tackle common conditions such as infertility, chronic pain, gut health, and aging—all to promote optimal wellness.

The Holistic Medicine Perspective

Holistic medicine is an approach that considers the whole person – mind, body, and spirit – in the pursuit of optimal health and wellness. Holistic practitioners in San Diego understand that the body is a complex, interconnected system, and they work to treat the underlying causes of health problems rather than just the symptoms. They focus on ancient healing traditions such as acupuncture and herbalism into their practice alongside fresh medical science, creating a harmonious blend of complementary therapies.

Chinese Medicine: The Ancient Healthcare Approach

This ancient approach to healthcare is one of the core approaches here at Thriving Wellbeing. Chinese medicine practitioners approach the body as a system of interconnected parts—not just separate systems—and seeks to understand the deeper imbalances and dysfunctions that lead to various health issues.

You can’t feel your best until all areas of health are functioning as they should. If your heart is healthy but your gut is constantly cramped and bloated, you wouldn’t say that you are experiencing health. Likewise, an unhealthy gut can cause issues with brain fog and immune support. Simply taking an antacid isn’t going to correct the underlying imbalance. Unfortunately, modern medicine doesn’t take this holistic view, and many people suffer from chronic symptoms for years.

The principles and approach of Chinese medicine may sound familiar if you’ve heard of other alternative therapies, such as functional or naturopathic remedies. At Thriving Wellbeing, we share the mindset of a full-body approach to healthcare. We utilize some of the same treatments as functional medicine, but our foundation is built on the ancient practice of Chinese medicine. We offer functional medicine as a supplement to acupuncture and Chinese medicine services, which have been tried-and-true for centuries.

The Holistic Medicine Perspective

  • Infertility

Holistic practitioners in San Diego recognize that infertility can be influenced by a multitude of factors, including hormonal imbalances, stress, and lifestyle choices. With traditional methods such as acupuncture for fertility with complimentary fertility treatments, we offer a comprehensive approach. Additionally, herbal remedies and dietary changes help address hormonal imbalances, improving the chances of conception.

  • Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is a complex issue often linked to inflammation, muscle tension, and psychological factors. Holistic practitioners employ a combination of therapies such as acupuncture, chiropractic care, physical therapy, and dietary modifications to alleviate pain. These approaches not only manage symptoms but also address the underlying causes, promoting long-term relief.

  • Gut Health

Gut health plays a pivotal role in overall well-being, and imbalances in the gut microbiome can lead to various health issues. Dr. V uses herbal remedies and dietary changes to support gut health, as well as other ancient Chinese medicine techniques to identify the root cause of imbalances and create personalized treatment plans.

Aging is a natural process, but its effects can be managed holistically. Holistic practitioners in San Diego focus on optimizing overall wellness, which includes supporting the body’s natural mechanisms for repair and regeneration. They may recommend anti-aging techniques such as acupuncture for improved circulation, herbal supplements for cellular health, and lifestyle changes to reduce oxidative stress.
