Wow, it’s going around, and most of my patients are emailing, texting, and reaching out for some natural remedies to help them and their families through this cold/flu season that seems to be a little sticky and lasting a little longer.  Let’s dive into the world of natural remedies and get you feeling tip-top in no time!

1. Sip Your Way to Wellness: Pour yourself a steaming cup of herbal goodness! Opt for immune-boosting teas like elderberry, echinacea, chamomile, or ginger with some fresh lemon slices. These bad boys are packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to give your immune system the TLC it deserves.

2. Spice Up Your Life: It’s time to turn up the heat in your kitchen! Whip up some spicy dishes loaded with garlic, turmeric, and cayenne pepper. Not only do they add a punch of flavor, but they also have antimicrobial properties that can help fight off those nasty bugs.

3. Get Your Z’s: Ah, glorious sleep! Make sure you’re catching those Z’s like a pro. Your body needs ample rest to recharge and fend off any unwelcome invaders. Create a cozy bedtime routine, dim the lights, and drift off into dreamland.

4. Vitamin C Superheroes: Stock up on citrus fruits, bell peppers, and leafy greens to get your daily dose of vitamin C. This powerful nutrient is a key player in supporting your immune system and keeping those sniffles at bay.

5. Oil Up Essential oils to the rescue! Whether you prefer diffusing them, adding them to your bath, or applying them topically, oils like peppermint, eucalyptus, and tea tree can work wonders in clearing congestion and boosting your mood.

6. Hydration Station: Don’t forget to hydrate like it’s your job! Keep that water bottle by your side and sip, sip, sip throughout the day. Staying hydrated helps flush out toxins and keeps your immune system in top-notch shape.

7. Gut Check: Did you know that a healthy gut equals a happy immune system? Load up on probiotic-rich foods like miso-soup, fermented veggies, and sauerkraut to keep your gut flora flourishing and your immune system singing.

8. Stress Less, Laugh More:  Don’t forget to take a breather and indulge in some laughter therapy. Stress can wreak havoc on your immune system, so kick back, relax, and let those endorphins work their magic. My patients always hear me saying – watch some comedy belly laughs are the best 🙂

9. Cold and Flu Soup: Whip up a hearty, nutrient-packed soup loaded with immune-boosting ingredients like chicken broth, garlic, onions, ginger, and plenty of colorful veggies. Not only will it warm your soul, but it’ll also give your immune system the extra kick it needs to fight off those bugs. If you don’t feel like cooking, order some “Pho Soup near youâ€.

10. My Favorite Supplements: When it comes to battling a cold, I swear by a few trusty supplements. Immu-Zyme (all in one bottle: Vitamin A, C, B,  zinc, echinacea, astragalus, elderberry, goldenseal, colostrum, and many more)  Vitamin D, and Yin Qiao San are my go-to’s for giving my immune system an extra boost when I need it most.
