What do you think of when you hear Acupuncture?

Acupuncture has been used for over thousands of years as a medical treatment that promotes natural healing within the body itself. A licensed acupuncturist helps facilitate by using single-use, hair-thin needs along specific channels of the body to target specific locations and promote positive change. Acupuncture is used to increase circulation, reduce inflammation, help digestion, emotional imbalance, anxiety, sleeplessness, depression, and more. Acupuncture helps the body release it’s own natural pain killers, therefore making it non-invasive and safe.
Many think the use of needles will hurt, but in fact, acupuncture needles are thinner than the human hair! Normally, after insertion of a needle, patients feel a slight heavy sensation, but no pain. A joke that is often used with an acupuncture treatment is that a free nap is included with every session! Acupuncture needles are always sterile, single use, and stainless steel.
The thing about an acupuncture session is that the actual treatment is just a small part. There is so much more that goes into each session that is of high priority. With each session, an initial intake is done. Whether it’s your first, second, or hundredth session, an acupuncturist will ask various questions about the condition you are coming for and your every day life. Diet, exercise, stress, and more are accounted for. Each session’s length could be different, and sometimes herbs and a diet change are suggested. The point of this is to find the root of the problem. Side affects are always the last sign your body gives to say “HEY! I’m NOT OK!” therefore talking about lifestyle is valuable so the problem doesn’t come back. As well as educating and empowering patients to correct poor habits and improve their lifestyle.
